Coldplay set new records with Barcelona concerts

British band Coldplay have set new records in Barcelona with their four-night string of performances at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

Coldplay became the first band to perform four dates in a stadium in Spain, and also set an attendance record according to AP Musicales.

The band is currently travelling as part of their Music Of The Spheres World Tour and a total of 225,000 people attended the stadium across the four dates at the end of last month.

Coldplay will perform the second of its four concerts at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium tonight (Thursday) before moving on to Cardiff next week.

Last month, Coldplay revealed Asia and Australia tour dates for November this year, naming locations the band have not visited in a number of years.

The band will play in Tokyo for the first time since 2017, with their first ever dates in Kaohsiung in Taiwan, Jakarta in Indonesia and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

There will also be a special one-off performance in Perth, marking the first time the band have played in Western Australia since 2009.

After tickets went on sale for the concert at Kuala Lumpur’s National Stadium Bukit Jalil, Malaysian authorities said they would meet the organiser after fans complained they couldn’t purchase tickets to the performance due to scalpers bulk-buying seats.

It was then reported that the Malaysian Government was considering a law to help beat ticket scalping in the country.
