The French consumer protection agency DGCCRF has handed out a fine of €150,000 (£126,342/$171,522) to Global Service Concierge and its parent company, WSI Live, for misleading resale practices.
According to a report from Face-Value European Alliance for Ticketing (FEAT), Direction Général de la Concurrence, Due la Consommation et de la Répression Des Fraudes (DGCCRF) has fined the two companies, which operate live-booker.fr and next-concert.com.
Following an investigation, it was found that the websites were offering resale tickets without the authorisation of the promoters. This is illegal in France under Article 313-6-2 of the French Criminal Code.
In November 2020, Global Services Concierge was also ordered to compensate live industry association, Prodiss, €100,000 for infringing anti-scalping legislation.
FEAT, which is focused on anti-ticket touting, recently launched its guide for members and promoters on how to deal with and remove touted tickets.
The guide covers the process of implementing an anti-tout policy, how to guide fans during on-sale and spotting signs of touting. It then advises the most buyer-friendly way of cancelling touted tickets, while taking into consideration the correct legal process.
