Backstage: Foo Fighters, Twice, Miranda Lambert & more…

A round-up of the latest live music news…

Rock band Foo Fighters have cancelled their forthcoming tour following the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins.

The tour, set to run between April and December, included sold-out stadium shows in the North America, the UK and Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

Scheduled stops in the US included Citi Field in New York City and US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. The band were also due to play London Stadium, Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester, Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid and Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

In a statement on social media, they added: “We’re sorry for and share in the disappointment that we won’t be seeing one another as planned.”

Twice, the K-Pop group, have announced their 4th World Tour encore in North America with an extra performance at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles.

The announcement comes off the heels of two sold out nights at The Forum in February during their 4th World Tour, which opened in Seoul in December last year.

The tour sold out within hours of the on-sale and filled arenas across five cities in North America including Los Angeles, Oakland, Fort Worth, Atlanta and New York.

Tickets for the LA gig on May 14 go on sale on Wednesday, April 6 via Ticketmaster.

Country music star Miranda Lambert is to begin a Las Vegas residency at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino later this year.

Recently crowned Entertainer of the Year by the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards, Lambert’s residency will run for 24 shows from September.

Tickets go on sale to the public starting Thursday, April 7. Fan club members will have access to a presale starting Friday, April 1.

“When you’ve been touring as long as I have, there’s something really creative about imagining a residency in a city like Las Vegas,” said Lambert.

“I’ve had a lot of fun designing our sets, merchandise and clothing and boot lines – and even my place on Broadway in Nashville, Casa Rosa – so, this opportunity allows me to lean in a bit more into that side of myself and think about how to really bring country music to life in this room. I think everyone will like what we’ve dreamed up. I’m really excited about this!”

Pukkelpop is launching a new one-day festival for rock and indie lovers in Belgium called Hear Hear.

Headliners for the inaugural staging of the four-stage event in August include Liam Gallagher, Pixies and The Editors. Tickets for the festival in Hasselt cost €95 and can be purchased from today (March 31) via the dedicated tickets.hearhear.be website.

A spokesperson said: “Pukkelpop focuses on what is going on among young people, and in recent years that has mainly been hip-hop. As a result, rock and indie have faded into the background. We’ve been thinking about giving those genres a little more attention for a few years now. Now is the perfect time for that, especially because you see young bands reviving the guitar.”
