Entertainment and venue management company ASM Global has revealed a fundraising campaign to support humanitarian aid amid the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
Across ASM Global-operated venues in the UK, including AO Arena in Manchester, OVO Arena Wembley in London, First Direct Arena in Leeds, Utilita Arena in Newcastle and P&J Live in Aberdeen, money will be raised for the people of Ukraine.
Starting on Thursday last week, visitors to these venues will be able to donate an extra 50p (¢65/€0.60) on top of their food and beverage order during shows. The money raised will be used to send aid via the British Red Cross charity, offering victims the chance to receive food, water, first aid, medicines, shelter and warm clothing.
Over 750,000 people have been helped so far by the Red Cross since Russia invaded Ukraine in late February. The new Help for Ukraine appeal from ASM Global is supported by its corporate responsibility platform, ASM Global Acts, which was launched in October last year.
Chris Bray, executive vice-president of Europe, ASM Global, said: “ASM Global is proud to implement this new fundraising initiative, using ASM Global’s portfolio of UK venues as locations for donations to this important cause. ASM Global Acts, our corporate responsibility platform, works to make a meaningful difference to communities locally and all over the world; and we hope our customers will support us in these efforts, as the conflict in Ukraine continues.
“These funds will allow the British Red Cross to continue their vital work in providing urgent aid to those who need it the most.”
