Hong Kong’s venues are set to welcome back patrons from Thursday, with major attractions such as West Kowloon Cultural District and Disneyland Resort (pictured) opening up following a lengthy closure.
The easing of Covid-19 restrictions in the country means that sports venues, performance venues, theme parks, cinemas and museums will be able to re-open. Some hospitality venues and activities like bars, swimming pools and spas will not be reopening during the first stage of the easing plan.
Cinema fans will be able to once again consume food and drinks during screening, but will have to show proof of three jabs against Covid-19, or proof of recovery and two vaccinations in order to enter. Children under the age of 12 will not be required to show proof.
Previously, the Hong Kong Government has allowed performance venues to be open for rehearsals and the recording of online performances, but has now allowed locations to welcome back patrons in person.
Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam laid out the Government’s plans for the easing of restrictions in March, with the first wave of re-opening to begin on Thursday April 21.
To enter attractions such as the West Kowloon Cultural District, which encompasses Art Park, M+, Freespace and the Xiqu Centre, visitors will have to use the ‘LeaveHomeSafe’ app and fill in the ‘Vaccine Pass’ requirements.
Nightclubs will be allowed to open during the second phase of the re-opening plan.
