Tickets launch for Formula E London E-Prix

Formula E tickets have launched for the 2022 London E-Prix, with the announcement that London-raised DJ and producer Jax Jones will perform at the event.

The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will be returning to the ExCel Exhibition Centre in London for Rounds 13 and 14 of the racing series on July 30 and 31.

Some 15,000 fans will be able to watch the electric races, after the event was held behind closed doors last year. The first London E-Prix was held in Battersea Park in 2015 and 2016, with the English capital next hosting an E-Prix in London at ExCel in 2021 under Covid-19 restrictions.

Formula E chief executive Jamie Reigle told Standard Sport: “Fans will be the biggest thing about the London E-Prix, we’ll have room for about 15,000 and there’s also our E-Village fanzone.

“There’ll be grandstand seats outside and inside, hospitality, we’re trying to make it really welcoming for hardcore motorsport fans or those just wanting a fun day out.”

Grandstand tickets cost £49 ($61,€58), £69 and £99 while a ticket to the Allianz E-Village will cost just £15.

Formula E launched ticket sales for the London E-Prix yesterday with a unique race car livery designed by east London street artist, Mr Cenz.

Reigle said: “Formula E is unique in that we take our race cars to the streets of world cities like New York, Berlin, Rome, Riyadh, Seoul and London.

“Now we’ve taken the streets of east London to our race car. Inviting Mr Cenz to create a livery for a Formula E car reflects the importance of engaging with the culture and community of our host cities. Bringing local communities closer to our racing connects people to our mission of accelerating the switch to electric mobility and taking action to fight climate change.”

Jax Jones will perform at both races of the London E-Prix and said: “I grew up in London so it’s always a bit of a homecoming for me whenever I get to play here, let alone at a car race running through the middle of my city? ‘Gonna’ be crazy.”
