Tech Stack: Metascreen, digital transformation and more…

Our weekly tech round-up from the world of ticketing and associated industries…

Metascreen movies

SquirrelVerse, a metaverse first company, has launched Metascreen, a curated NFT (non-fungible token) commerce platform for showing NFTs as movie tickets. ‘Mithila Makhaan’, a Maithili film that will be screened on Metascreen, is the first Indian movie that can be watched using an NFT as a movie ticket.

Metascreen is a platform by SquirrelVerse where users will be able to buy NFTs and watch movies as well. Creators can display, own their work and earn through royalties on the Metascreen platform.

A ticket to the moon

MoonDAO (decentralised autonomous organisation) has obtained tickets on Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket to fly into space. MoonDAO announced that holders of its ‘Ticket to Space’ NFT collection are able to win a set on the trip, and MoonDAO will select the astronauts through a public drawing and other contests. Anyone that mints a ‘Ticket to Space’ NFT is eligible for a chance to win.

Mummified ticketing

Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has rolled out an electronic ticketing system for attractions and sites including the Mummification and Luxor Museums of Ancient Art in Luxor, the Esna Temple in Luxor, and the Dendera Temple in Qena.

The Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled Sharif said that the Ministry’s plan for a digital transformation means 30 archeological sites and museums will have an electronic system by the end of 2022.

Unlocking the festival experience

MetaFests has been launched to help unlock NFT revenue opportunities for festivals. The company was founded by Steve Jenner, who has been working on cashless wristband technology at PlayPass.

Jenner has been working with a team of festival and Web3 experts, and a number of festival clients, which are due to be announced soon. MetaFests is currently in technical production and its first products are set to be launched in August this year.
