Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band have sold more than one million tickets for their 2023 European tour dates.
The European leg will begin at the Estadi Olímpic in Barcelona, which holds a crowd of 60,000. From April 28 through to July 25 next year, Springsteen and The E Street Band will visit Spain, Ireland, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Austria, before ending the tour in Italy.
Due to such high demand, extra shows have been added in Barcelona, Dublin, Oslo, Gothenburg, Paris, Amsterdam and Hockenheim.
The European leg now comprises 26 dates, but additional shows and cities in the UK and Belgium are yet to be announced. It will be preceded by the US arena dates, which have not been announced yet, but will kick off the tour in February.
A second North American tour leg has been scheduled for August.
The concerts will be the first time the band has performed since The River Tour, which took place across 2016 and 2017. It was also the highest grossing worldwide tour of 2016, earning $268.3m (£215m/€253m) across 76 shows.
According to Pollstar, the average price of a ticket for The River Tour was $111.50.
Reaching the million sale milestone has come despite both Springsteen and Ticketmaster having to apologise to fans because of a hold-up when purchasing tickets.
Springsteen posted on Twitter: “Unfortunately shortly after the start of today’s onsales, Ticketmaster experienced some unforeseen technical difficulties.”
The message also went on to say that sales were temporarily suspended for shows in Copenhagen, Amsterdam and Landgraaf.
