Shawn Mendes adds social impact initiative to world tour

Canadian singer Shawn Mendes has announced a new social impact initiative to complement his ‘Wonder’ world tour.

The tour will feature a ‘Social Impact Village’ with online music show Reverb. The village will include points to discuss Mendes’ foundation, and will allow fans to vote on which issues the foundation should support.

Fans will also be able to sign petitions on issues such as the climate crisis and mental health equity.

In addition, Mendes will donate $1 from each ticket sold in North America to his Wonder Grants program, which awards young activists with money to support their projects.

The Social Impact Village will also feature those that have already received funding from Wonder Grants, to share their work with other fans.

The Wonder Grants Initiative has been created in partnership with Global Changemakers, an organisation that supports youth to create positive change.

During the ‘Wonder’ world tour, which has been sponsored by streaming platform Disney+, Mendes will also visit children’s hospitals across the US.
