People on the move: RSC, DEAG and more…


We round up the latest movements from the ticketing sector and associated industries… 

The Royal Shakespeare Company has announced that Daniel Evans (pictured left) and Tamara Harvey (pictured right) will be the co-artistic directors of the RSC from June 2023. 

Evans is currently the artistic director of Chichester Festival Theatre and Harvey is currently the artistic director of Theatr Clwyd. 

Shriti Vadera, chair of the RSC Board, said: “The Board is delighted to appoint Daniel and Tamara as co-artistic directors from an exceptionally strong field of candidates. They bring a brilliant track record of artistic achievement with a strong commitment to education, communities and championing diverse talent and voices, alongside a proven strategic ability to lead major companies. 

“Their partnership heralds an exciting vision for the future of the RSC to attract world-class artistic talent, captivate today’s audiences with Shakespeare, classics and new work, and increase radically the reach and impact of our pioneering learning, partnerships and digital work.” 

DEAG Deutsche Entertainment Aktiengesellschaft (DEAG) has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Oliver Hoppe in the role of executive vice-president, product and innovation, and Stuart Galbraith as executive vice-president, international touring. 

Hoppe and Galbraith will support DEAG’s executive board with national and international expansion. Hoppe is currently managing director of DEAG subsidiary Wizard Promotions while Galbraith is chief executive of British entertainment group, Kilimanjaro. 

Elsewhere, American football minor league XFL, which is set to return next year, has brought in Jason Gonella as senior vice-president, ticket sales. 

Gonella will lead the planning and development of the league’s ticket sales, services and operations for the eight different teams. He will report to Janet Duch, chief marketing and content officer. 

Russ Brandon, president of the XFL, said: “Jason is a seasoned industry veteran with decades of experience working at some of the most successful sports and entertainment venues and franchises in the US. 

“His diverse expertise across ticketing, premium hospitality, and sponsorship sales will be critical for our league and help drive forward our dynamic ticketing product offerings and overall fan experience.”

Sports and entertainment company Endeavor has promoted Robbie Henchman to president of global partnerships – IMG Events, IMG Media and On Location. 

Henchman was previously the executive vice-president of strategic partnerships for IMG and will now work alongside Endeavor’s senior leadership team, reporting to president of IMG Events and On Location Paul Caine.
