TodayTix launches in Brisbane – TheTicketingBusiness News

TodayTix, a ticketing platform with a focus on cultural experiences, has announced its launch in the Australian city of Brisbane.

The company’s platform was launched in Melbourne and Sydney in 2019 and enabled Australian theatre fans to attend shows such as Hamilton, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and Mary Poppins.

Brisbane residents will also be able to enjoy the production of Mary Poppins at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC)’s Lyric Theatre.

Brian Fenty, chief executive and co-founder of TodayTix Group, said: “After only operating in Australia for over a year before the global shutdown, bringing democratised, user-friendly cultural e-commerce technology to local audiences is more important than ever.

“Through our exciting partnerships with QPAC, Michael Cassel Group and many others, we could not be happier about increasing access to the arts by bringing TodayTix to Brisbane. We are so excited to be partnering with such high-calibre productions right away and look forward to further promoting Brisbane’s fantastic cultural offerings.”

As part of the Brisbane launch, TodayTix is running a digital lottery for the upcoming season of Mary Poppins, offering theatre-goers the chance to secure tickets for just A$45 (£25/$28/€29). The lottery opened today (Friday) and will be drawn next Thursday, with a limited number of tickets available per show.

The lottery will then continue to run each week, opening every Friday and drawn the following Thursday for the upcoming week’s performances.

On bringing the lottery to Brisbane, Australian producer Michael Cassel said: “Being able to introduce a brand-new generation to Mary’s magic in Sydney has been a joy, and the accessibility of the lottery has helped us reach even more people – which is important as we continue to inspire and develop new audiences for theatre in Australia. We are incredibly proud that Brisbane’s very first TodayTix lottery winners will be able to join us at QPAC to experience our spectacular show.”

TodayTix has also announced a partnership with QPAC as its preferred digital access program partner for mobile Rush. Once Rush is launched with QPAC, theatre-goers will be able to purchase ‘rush’ tickets for select performances via TodayTix’s API technology, which will directly integrate with QPAC’s primary ticketing system.
