English Premier League club Everton will trial digital away tickets, starting with its match against Manchester City on New Year’s Eve.
Everton has been working with other Premier League clubs to arrange trials for upcoming away fixtures, according to a report from Liverpool Echo.
The trial against Manchester City will be limited to tickets sold in Block 214 of the 53,400-capacity Etihad Stadium (pictured) and season ticket members with the required number of points. These members have been contacted by the club to see if they would like to take part in the trial.
As part of the trial, supporters will be able to download their ticket for match directly to their smart phone, removing the need to queue to collect tickets at the Etihad. Fans will also be able to access the stadium much quicker just by scanning their mobile device at the turnstile.
Everton also recently teamed up with Crystal Palace to trial a small number of away fans at Goodison Park for their Premier League game in October.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the trial was considered a success and received positive feedback from participants.
The Premier League club has also confirmed its pricing and renewal timeline for 2023-24 season tickets. Although costs have increased, it is still below the current rate of inflation.
Everton’s season ticket prices are the third lowest in the Premier League, with an increase of 10% slated for adult season tickets next season and a £30 (€35/$36) increase for all other categories.
The most expensive adult season ticket amounts to £690 in Park End, while the cheapest is £515 in the Family Enclosure. Young adult (18-21) and senior season tickets will cost £360, while young adult (22-24) will cost £440. Junior season tickets will cost £210 and kids will cost £155.
Season ticket members will be contacted by the club about their renewal options, with one being the ability to spread the cost through a direct debit. Those that are opted into this scheme and wish to keep their seat for next season do not need to anything immediately, as it will be automatically renewed. The first payment of 12 will be taken in March next year.
Renewing season ticket members aged 90 and over will be entitled to a complimentary season ticket.
