3D Digital Venue raises €2.5m in Series A funding

Caixa Capital Risc, the venture capital manager for CriteriaCaixa, has led a Series A financing round of €2.5m (£2.2m/$2.6m) for technology company Mobile Media Content (MMC), which digitises sports and cultural venues to automate production of content and distribution through its 3D Digital Venue SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) platform.

Spain’s Ministry of Science and Innovation, Spodeal Capital, Limorent, the current shareholders and the founding partners also participated in the funding round.

The finance will help to drive growth and the international presence of the 3D Digital Venue platform, moving into the global events market and developing new services around the digital economy and the Metaverse.

The 3D Digital Venue platform’s services and solutions help to increase the online conversion of products relating to events such as single tickets, season tickets, VIP experiences, promotion of new stadiums and more.

For example, 3D Digital Venue allows users to sit virtually in any available seat and check out the view, before purchasing the ticket from a mobile device. The content taken from the 3D model is integrated and distributed through existing channels managed by the ticketing platforms of sports clubs, leagues, major competitions or theatres.

With offices in Barcelona and San Francisco, 3D Digital Venue is used across 18 countries. More than half of its business is in relation to five professional leagues in the US – National Basketball Association (NBA), National Football League (NFL), National Hockey League (NHL), Major League Baseball (MLB) and Major League Soccer (MLS).

In Europe, 3D Digital Venue is utilised by LaLiga in Spain, the English Premier League and Serie A in Italy. It is also used in Formula 1.
