Drake halts concert after person falls from balcony

Canadian rapper Drake (pictured) was forced to halt his concert for SiriusXM at Harlem’s Apollo Theater at the weekend, after a fan fell from the venue’s mezzanine balcony.

According to reports, the incident happened roughly 90 minutes into the show. A man had reportedly fallen from the second floor into the orchestra pit and affected some of the venue’s lighting.

A crew member then asked Drake and 21 Savage, who had just joined him on stage, to pause the show while they made sure the person was okay.

In a statement given to Variety, the venue confirmed that no one had been injured during the incident. A spokesperson said: “Unfortunately, last evening an incident occurred with an audience member who landed in the orchestra from the lower mezzanine.

“Drake, Apollo and SiriusXM halted the show immediately when learning of a potential fan injury and standard protocols were taken. They were seen immediately by EMS on site. The fan and other audience members reported that they were OK. No major injuries have been reported. The Apollo is investigating the situation further.”

Drake was present on stage with fellow rapper Travis Scott during the Astroworld tragedy in November 2021, in which 10 people died.
