SeatGeek chosen as MLB’s official ticket marketplace


SeatGeek has announced today (Monday) that it is set to become the official ticket marketplace of Major League Baseball (MLB). 

Not only has MLB made some changes on the field with new rules for 2023, including a pitch timer, shift restrictions and larger bases, but it has also made the decision to partner with SeatGeek off the field.

The partnership will include ticket barcode integration, which will enable fans to resell their MLB tickets via SeatGeek’s marketplace. MLB and its teams will also have access to SeatGeek’s analytical tools and database of event-goers.

MLB’s chief revenue officer Noah Garden said: “SeatGeek is a data-driven company that is relentlessly focused on improving the fan experience from purchase to post-game. We’re eager to tap into SeatGeek’s extensive user base across numerous categories to reach an even wider audience of potential attendees.”

SeatGeek co-founder Russ D’Souza added: “Baseball is the largest spectator sport in the world in terms of total attendance, and the nature of the league’s 162-game season makes it ripe for innovation on the ticket resale side of the business. With MLB, we get a chance to re-imagine what the ticketing experience is like while bringing new fans to the ballpark.”

Earlier this month, SeatGeek was named as the official secondary marketplace of Paciolan.

The platform’s secondary ticketing services will be directly integrated with Paciolan’s primary ticketing system, with an expected start date in July.
