Stubb’s, a 2,500-capacity venue in Austin, Texas, has been acquired by concert promoter C3 Presents and its parent company, Live Nation.
The new owners plan to renovate the outdoor music venue, which also incorporates a BBQ restaurant.
C3 Presents and Live Nation completed the deal at the end of last year, and not only includes the venue and restaurant, but also the surrounding land.
Carles Attal, who launched Stubb’s in 1996, also co-owns C3 Presents. The company has been involved in Stubb’s bookings over the last 26 years, and also owns the Austin City Limits Music Festival, alongside Live Nation.
Stubb’s is also one of the principal locations for South by Southwest festival.
C3 Presents is also involved in the University of Austin’s new venue, the Moody Center. It was recently revealed that the venue had already sold $15m-worth (£11m/€13m) of tickets for upcoming shows.
Amy Corbin, promoter with C3 Presents, told Variety: “Stubb’s is truly one of the most special music venues, not only in Austin, but in the country.
“The C3 team has handled bookings for the past 26 years, and most of the dedicated stage staff have been working there for most of their careers. It’s part of our DNA as Austinites, and we intend to carry on the outstanding legacy and experience fans have come to know and love over the years.”
