ASM Global’s corporate responsibility platform ASM Global Acts has launched a scholarship programme in the US that will offer awards totalling $50,000 (£37,000/€45,000).
Recipients of the live entertainment and venue management company’s ASM Global Stars scholarship award may also be offered internships to gain experience at ASM’s corporate offices or at one of its venues.
The application period opened yesterday (Tuesday) and will run until April 12. Successful applicants will be notified on June 6.
During the first year of the scheme, scholarships will be awarded in states such as California, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania.
ASM Global said in a release that launching the scholarships represented an effort to level the playing field for anyone looking to advance their education and pursue career goals.
“We are incredibly proud to support students in our local communities by investing in their education and making college accessible and affordable and by offering career development opportunities for our future leaders,” said ASM Global president and chief executive, Ron Bension.
“Our ASM Acts programme is committed to making a difference in the communities where we do business.”
Shauna Elvin, ASM Global executive vice-president, global human resources, added: “Through this programme, we hope to encourage and develop the next generation of team members who will lead our company to even greater success.”
The new initiative comes after ASM Global recently announced the launch of an international jobs fair, which will aim to address the global staffing shortage within the live entertainment sector.
‘ASM Global Presents: The Next Great Opportunity’ will target markets in the US, UK, Europe, South America and the Asia-Pacific regions.
