Promoter G.H.Y Culture and Media and Ticketek Singapore have apologised to fans attempting to purchase tickets for Jay Chou’s stadium concerts in Singapore.
Priority tickets for the Taiwanese singer’s concerts went on sale on Thursday with general sales launching yesterday (Sunday). The launch of the ticket sales was affected by “technical issues” resulting in long digital and in-person queues.
A report from news outlet CNA said that there were queues at the city-state’s fully integrated sports, entertainment and lifestyle service, Singapore Sports Hub, two hours ahead of ticket sales, but fans had to wait several hours before purchasing a ticket due to a “system glitch”.
Ticketing platform Ticketek and promoter G.H.Y released statements on social media apologising to fans attempting to purchase tickets for Jay Chou’s Carnival tour dates for the issues.
G.H.Y said: “To Jay Chou Fans, we are very sorry for your experience while trying to purchase tickets to Jay Chou Carnival World Tour – Singapore.
“Our ticket provider Ticketek has been facing technical issues and we had to slow down sales so as to resolve these issues. Fans can purchase their tickets via Ticketek now. You might experience having to wait and we are doing our best to transact as many bookings as possible. We would like to thank fans for your support and patience and are very sorry.”
Ticketek Singapore said in a statement: “Dear Jay Chou fans, thank you for your kind patience and understanding. We know it took fans longer than expected to purchase their tickets yesterday [Thursday] and we sincerely apologise for inconvenience caused. Some of you have reached out to us directly with questions on your purchases and we are responding to your queries as quickly as we can.”
Some fans also complained on the post over missing tickets while still being charged for the purchase.
Ticketek responded and said: “If funds were deducted from your card and you have no corresponding transaction reflected under Order History in your Ticketek account, these funds have been automatically returned to the card used. It may require a few days for your bank to reflect this in your account.”
