People on the move: Society of London Theatre & UK Theatre and more…

We round up the latest movements from the ticketing sector and associated industries…

Claire Walker (pictured left) and Hannah Essex (pictured right) have been appointed joint chief executives of the Society of London Theatre (SOLT) and UK Theatre.

Walker and Essex are currently co-executive directors at the British Chambers of Commerce and have over 40 years of combined experience as senior leaders.

Prior to their role with the British Chambers of Commerce, Walker and Essex were co-directors of communication for Teach First.

Eleanor Lloyd, president of SOLT, said: “I am delighted to welcome Claire and Hannah as the co-CEOs of SOLT and UK Theatre. They are inspirational leaders who will bring an outstanding combination of experience, dynamism and passion to both organisations. Their work at the British Chambers of Commerce, especially during the pandemic, puts them in a perfect position to support our members and champion the theatre industry in this new chapter.”

Walker and Essex have been appointed as joint CEOs following the planned departure of Julian Bird. They will take up their new roles on September 12.

Stephanie Sirr MBE, president of UK Theatre, added: “At this critical juncture for our industry, we are thrilled to be welcoming Claire and Hannah as our new chief executives. Not only are they hugely experienced with an exceptional track record of delivery, but they are also truly passionate about our sector and its importance.”

Ticket Solutions, an event distribution company, has hired Calleagh Darby as director of partnerships.

Darby will focus on nurturing new and existing partnerships to drive company growth.

Clay Discher, chief revenue officer at Ticket Solutions, said: “Calleagh brings a wealth of knowledge, dedication, and experience to the partnerships team. With her extensive background and network in college athletics, she will undoubtedly contribute to our company growth.”

Elsewhere, ticketing, marketing and experience technology platform Eventbrite has elected April Underwood to the company’s Board of Directors.

Underwood will join the board as a class one director, and has an extensive background in technology. Currently, she is the co-founder of #ANGELS, an investing collective focused on helping to grow technology start-ups.

“April’s credentials and accomplishments throughout her career in advising technology companies on both product and strategy development make her an invaluable addition to our board of directors,” said Julia Hartz, CEO and co-founder of Eventbrite. “Her experience in working with some of the world’s largest companies, supporting and investing in technology’s newest startups is going to greatly impact our community of creators and further accelerate Eventbrite’s success.”
