Hong Kong Sevens tickets go on sale

Tickets for the upcoming Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens have gone on general sale today (Thursday).

Some 10,000 three-day tickets are now on sale for the first Sevens event in three years. Tickets are traditionally distributed through a public ballot but this is not the case for November’s event.

All tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis and prices have been frozen at 2019 levels. Three-day event passes will cost HK$1,950 (£229/€255/$248) for adults and HK$950 for children aged 12 and under. There have also been a small number reserved for international demand, should COVID-19 restrictions be relaxed further.

It was reported in August that tickets will be available through ticketing company Ticketflap and distribution platform Tixserve.

Local rugby club members have already purchased more than 16,500 tickets, which represents more than 50% of Hong Kong Stadium’s (pictured) capacity. Attendance is still currently restricted at 85% due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions in Hong Kong.

Robbie McRobbie, chief executive of the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union, told the South China Morning Post: “We are hugely thankful for the support we have received from our rugby community and stakeholders to date. It is comforting to know that we have already sold well over half of our tickets within our sporting community, and we are delighted to welcome the public to welcome the rugby world back to Hong Kong this November.”

The Sevens will run from November 4-6.
