London Irish offers discount for Worcester Warriors season ticket holders

Premiership rugby union club London Irish has offered Worcester Warriors season ticket holders the chance to still watch their beloved sport, as their own club has fallen into administration.

London Irish released a statement yesterday (Wednesday) informing Worcester Warriors season ticket holders they would be given 50% off ticket prices to watch Irish matches.

The Rugby Football Union (RFU) suspended the Warriors from all competitions after it was confirmed the club had been placed into administration.

Owners WRFC Trading Limited asked the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to place the club into administration on Tuesday. This means that the Warriors are unable to compete in the Premiership, Premier 15s, U18s Academy Cup and Allianz Cup.

Management had failed to provide the RFU with evidence of insurance cover, availability of funds to meet its monthly payroll, and a credible plan to secure the future of the club.

In a statement, London Irish said: “The thoughts of all those at London Irish are with the players, staff and supporters of Worcester Warriors. After hosting the club recently at the Gtech Community Stadium, we were blown away by the professionalism and togetherness they all demonstrated both on that day and during the very difficult and uncertain weeks before and afterwards.

“Every individual at Worcester Warriors deserves better, and we truly hope to see them return to the Gallagher Premiership soon.

“To season ticket holders of Worcester Warriors – we know what rugby means to you. While nothing can replace your club, if you do ever want to get your live rugby fix, tickets at the Gtech Community Stadium will be discounted by 50% for you, and you will be welcomed with open arms.”
