Sir Elton John will headline UK flagship festival Glastonbury next summer, which will be his last UK performance on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
Sir Elton will be playing on Sunday June 25 on the Pyramid Stage.
In a statement, Sir Elton said: “There is no more fitting way to say goodbye to my British fans. I can’t wait to embrace the spirit of the greatest festival in the world. It’s going to be incredibly emotional.”
Emily Eavis added: “It gives me enormous pleasure to let you know that the one and only Elton John will be making his first ever Glastonbury appearance, headlining the Pyramid Stage on the Sunday night next year.
“This will be the final UK show of Elton’s last ever tour, so we will be closing the festival and marking this huge moment in both of our histories with the mother of all send offs. We are so very happy to finally bring the Rocket Man to Worthy Farm.”
Sir Elton’s farewell tour was originally due to end in 2021, but multiple dates had to be rescheduled due to the singer’s hip injury and the COVID-19 pandemic. He recently finished the US leg of the tour with a three-night stint at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium.
The 75-year-old singer’s UK leg will kick off in Liverpool next March, followed by shows in Ireland, multiple shows at The O2 in London, several dates in Europe before returning to the UK again.
After his Glastonbury sign-off, Sir Elton will only have seven dates left to play in Europe before retiring from touring.
