Queen + Adam Lambert have attempted to limit ticket scalping ahead of their North America tour later this year.
Tickets for the latest stops on the Rhapsody Tour are set to go on sale today (Monday) via Ticketmaster.
The Rhapsody Tour was launched just under four years ago in July 2019, with dates in the US and Canada, Asia, New Zealand, Australia, the UK and Europe. From October this year, Queen (which consists of Sir Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor) and Lambert will perform in cities such as Toronto, New York, Boston, Nashville, Dallas, Los Angeles and more.
In order to help protect fans against scalpers, tickets will be non-transferrable to prevent tickets being resold for a profit. This will not be in place for dates in New York, Illinois and Colorado, where state laws prohibit artists from restricting resale.
Tickets will only be able to be resold at original price through Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange, which allows fans to sell their tickets for the price they paid, including fees and taxes.
The Face Value Exchange will be launched at a later date.
May told USA Today: “We get p****d off at the fact that fans get ripped off by people scalping and buying tickets purely for resale. We hope the fans feel that we’re trying to take care of them in that way.”
