AFL’s Giants and Ticketmaster Australia team up to launch digital collectibles series

Ticketmaster Australia and the AFL’s Greater Western Sydney Giants are set to launch a series of digital collectibles during the remainder of the 2023 season.

Beginning in round 14 of the Australian Football League (AFL), the Giants will issue one exclusive digital collectible, backed by NFT (non-fungible token) technology, per home game at Giants Stadium. A total of four will be released across the remainder of the season.

Each digital collectible will be based on the theme of the round, with the first drop reflecting the Kids Take Over Round for the clash against the Fremantle Dockers this weekend. The digital collectibles will be available exclusively to fans that attend and scan into Giants Stadium, including supporters from visiting clubs that want to take part.

Round 23 will see the club release an ‘elevated collectible’ that is exclusive to Giants members, while all other attendees will receive the round-specific collectible.

Shaun James, Giants chief commercial officer, said: “At the Giants, we’re proud to be a club like no other and are always looking for ways to be an industry disrupter. This is a fantastic partnership with Ticketmaster Australia to add value and excitement to our match day experience for our loyal members and fans.”

Those that scan into Giants Stadium on game day will be able to access their digital collectible through the Ticketmaster digital collectible marketplace.

Gavin Taylor, Ticketmaster Australia managing director, added: “This is such a great initiative from the Giants, and it’s impressive to see the club looking for new and innovative ways they can engage fans in the game. We are thrilled to be helping them provide such memorable digital keepsakes to their fans to reflect the games they attended.

“As a young team that has quickly risen to prominence within the league, they have captured the hearts of a loyal fan base, and it is significant to see them working to enhance their fan experience.”
