Coachella NFT collection sells for $1.4m


Coachella’s recently dropped NFT (non-fungible token) collection, which included passes for lifetime entry, collectively sold for over $1.4m (£1m/€1.2m).

According to marketplace FTX.US, a week-long bidding process ended on February 11, with the final total reaching $1.4m. 

The US festival is promoted by AEG-owned Goldenvoice and released the Coachella Key collection in early February, which included lifetime passes, art prints, photo books and digital collectibles. 

The Infinity Key, which included the lifetime festival guest passes, all-inclusive culinary experiences and private transportation, set the highest bidder back by $270,000. 

The Key to the Safari sold for $256,000 and included passes as well as luxury air-conditioned tent accommodation. 

Other NFT collections included ‘Sights and Sounds’ which was made up of 10 digital collectibles, including iconic festival photos. 

The ‘Desert Reflections Collection’ celebrated Coachella’s 20-year history and if buyers mint this NFT, they will randomly receive one of 10 digital renditions of an iconic festival poster. These NFTs are also redeemable for a physical copy of the book, Coachella – The Photographs 1999-2019.

Coachella and Stagecoach promoter Goldenvoice also announced that all COVID-19 safety precautions have been dropped ahead of the events’ return in in April and May. 

Coachella is set to take place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California between April 15-17, while Stagecoach will held be held at the same venue between April 29-May 1.

In a tweet, Stagecoach festival said: “As we prepare to spend an incredible weekend in the desert together, we are announcing that there will be no vaccination, testing or masking requirements at Stagecoach 2022, in accordance with local guidelines.”
