More than 60,000 tix sold for FA Youth Cup final at Old Trafford

The 2022 FA Youth Cup final is set to welcome over 60,000 fans to Old Trafford on Wednesday, the biggest crowd outside of games at Wembley and Manchester United’s home matches this season.

According to the Premier League club, more than 60,000 tickets had been snapped up to watch United’s Under-18s take on Nottingham Forest’s Under-18s in the final at Old Trafford, which has a capacity of just over 74,000.

United have sold around 10,000 tickets over the last few days, with a predicted attendance set to beat the 60,356 that attended October’s Premier League game between Tottenham Hotspur and United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The attendance would also beat the 60,223 spectators that watched Arsenal beat Manchester United in the Premier League in late April at the Emirates, and the 59,958 fans that made up West Ham’s highest league crowd of the season at London Stadium, also against United.

Tickets for the match cost just £1, with the proceeds going towards the Manchester United Foundation.

According to Sports Illustrated, the final attendance would also beat Arsenal’s previous youth record of 38,173.

Manchester United Under-18s lead coach Travis Binnion said: “There’s nothing quite like it. I think you find out quite a lot about players in this tournament. The number of tickets sold shows what a fantastic club we represent, what it’s capable of and the interest the fans have in the youth programme and the Academy. It’s brilliant.”
