Four million apply for Paris 2024 Olympics tickets

Paris 2024 organisers received four million applications in the online lottery for tickets to next year’s Olympic Games.

According to a report from the Associated Press, the local organising committee is hoping to sell 1.3 million tickets as a result of the latest draw, which will see winners from the online lottery able to make purchases.

Applications ended on Thursday last week, with winners set to be informed if they were successful early next month. Successful applicants will then be able to start buying tickets from May 11 and will have a 48-hour time slot to do so; they will be informed 48 hours before when their slot begins.

Organisers expect that roughly half of the 10 million tickets available for the Paris Olympic Games will have been sold by June this year.

Over 3.25 million tickets were sold during the first phase, which featured packages, and top buyers came from Britain and the US.

Tickets for the Paralympics will go online on October 4, but will not be featured in a lottery. Roughly three million tickets are expected to be sold for the Paralympic Games.

The Paris 2024 Olympics will take place between July 26 and August 11, while the 2024 Paralympics will take pace from August 28 until September 8.
