O2 Priority struggles under weight of Beyoncé fans

Beyoncé fans rushed to secure tickets in the UK pre-sales ahead of the singer’s first solo tour in seven years.

O2 Priority customers were up first yesterday (Thursday), though the influx of fans attempting to purchase tickets for the Renaissance tour crashed the website and app.

Fans also struggled in the O2 Priority queue on Ticketmaster UK.

“We apologise to anyone experiencing difficulties trying to get Beyoncé tickets through Priority. Tickets are selling and we’re seeing huge demand. We’re doing everything we can behind the scenes to help keep the app running smoothly,” said O2 in a statement.

Fans that did manage to buy tickets said prices ranged from £56 (€63/$68) to £199, with VIP ‘on-stage’ seats costing between £1,950 and £2,390, according to reports.

A further pre-sale also took place today and another will take place on Monday.

The singer is set to perform five UK stadium shows in Cardiff, Edinburgh, Sunderland and London, with tickets to go on general sale on Tuesday.

Beyoncé’s world tour will kick off in Sweden on May 10 before travelling to Brussels, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Sunderland and Paris followed by two dates at Tottenham Hotspur stadium in London. The tour will then continue with stops in Lyon, Barcelona, Marseille, Cologne, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Warsaw.

The North American leg of the tour will begin in July, with stops in Toronto, Philadelphia, Louisville, Chicago, New Jersey, Boston, Miami, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Houston and more. Beyoncé’s tour will then end in New Orleans on September 27.
