New Zealand festival Rhythm and Alps, held just south of Wanaka, has had to revamp its entrance layout, as well as employ new technology, to accommodate Covid-19 safety checks and protocols.
The festival takes place over three days from 29 December, and it is estimated that 10,000 people will attend.
Festival director Alex Turnbull told Stuff.nz: “Our ticketing partner has already integrated the new vaccine passport technology. Each festival ticket holder will easily be able to upload their vaccine pass to their Ticket Fairy account. Once verified, this then marks their ticket as valid at the gate for entry.”
The new system had to be developed in order to keep festival attendees safe. Other events across New Zealand, such as Rhythm and Alps’ sister festival Rhythm and Vines in Gisborne, have already been cancelled or postponed, due to the issues relating to the ongoing pandemic or difficulty surrounding vaccine passport checks.
Turnbull added: “Festival attendees must log in prior to arriving at Rhythm and Alps and connect their vaccine passports. The ticket scanning system will show their vaccine status alongside their usual ticket status, without needing to scan both the ticket and the passport separately.
“We are confident this is a secure and simple way to apply vaccine passports to festivals and clear instructions will be sent to all customers within the next few days, with ongoing reminders throughout December.”
The line-up includes acts such as Antix, Concord Dawn and Dom Dolla.
