The Rajasthan Government in India is set to introduce e-ticketing for all of the state’s monuments and museums.
The Department of Archeology and Museology will introduce online ticketing to make it easier for tourists and visitors. The move follows reports of harassment from illegal guides, and the fact that a number of monuments do not have proper ticketing counters.
Mahendra Khadgawat, director of the department, told the Times of India: “Soon, at comfort, the tourist or visitor can book the tickets round the clock in advance. It is not necessary that they have to book on the same day of their visit, but they can plan much in advance.”
It is also hoped that introducing an e-ticketing system will greatly improve the experience for visitors, and eliminate time spent queueing to purchase tickets.
To further prevent the harassment of visitors and tourists by unofficial guides or photographers, the department is introducing a centralised monitoring system.
Kadgawat added: “The centralised CCTV centre will not only help us make these places visitor friendly, but also help us to improve the facilities for them.”
Both the e-ticketing initiative and the centralised monitoring system will be implemented and looked after by state technology agencies.
