Lollapalooza has announced that it will be expanding into Asia with the addition of Lollapalooza India.
The two-day festival will take place January 28-29 in Mumbai, with a line-up and ticketing details yet to be announced.
The introduction of Lollapalooza India means that the festival brand has now grown to eight countries on four different continents, including the US, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, France and Sweden.
Lollapalooza India will be produced by Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell, agency William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, concert promoter C3 Presents and ticketing company BookMyShow.
Farrell said: “The music of India is transcendental, it draws our spirits East. Lollapalooza is an instrument for unity, peace, and education utilising the universal languages of music and art to find common ground.”
Charlie Walker, partner, C3 Presents, said: “Lollapalooza has always been about exploring boundaries, musically and geographically. We are excited to introduce fans to an entirely new festival experience that has been a significant rite of passage for millions of music fans around the world for more than three decades.”
Ashish Hemrajani, founder and chief executive of BookMyShow, added: “BookMyShow is proud to bring Lollapalooza to India – making it the eighth country and the fourth continent to do so. With a mix of some stellar Indian talent and global artists coming together on the same stage, we expect nothing short of magic.”
