The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 has sold over half a million tickets for the upcoming tournament in Australia and New Zealand.
Taking place in July and August this year, the most popular match for the ninth edition of the Women’s World Cup was the final at Stadium Australia on August 20, in Sydney.
The opening match and opening ceremony will take place on July 20 at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand.
FIFA secretary general Fatma Samoura said: “Ticket sales for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 are off to a great start and it’s not just home fans in Australia and New Zealand purchasing tickets.
“Fans residing in the United States of America, England, Qatar, Germany, China PR, Canada, the Republic of Ireland and France are the top 10 purchasers of FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 tickets so far.
“This highlights the fantastic pull of the female game and the passion it evokes among the global football fandom, who want to be part of the FIFA Women’s World Cup and see the event reach #BeyondGreatness.”
Ticket prices for adults start at A/NZ$20 (£11/€13/$14) and A/NZ$10 for children, and hospitality packages are also available.
The first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup Play-Off Tournament is set to take place February 17-23, at Waikato Stadium in Hamilton and North Harbour Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand.
Tickets for the play-off tournament went on sale today (Tuesday).
The FIFA Women’s World Cup Play-Off Tournament will feature 10 nations: Portugal, Cameroon, Thailand, Chile, Haiti, Senegal, Chinese Taipei, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay and Panama.
Each country is competing for the final three spots at the FIFA Women’s World Cup and the tournament will also provide the backdrop for three additional friendlies featuring New Zealand.
