This weekend’s Coachella festival will be live-streamed on Youtube, meaning music fans from across the globe can experience the event and watch their favourite artists without physically being there.
The festival has been streamed on YouTube for the last 10 years of the event, with livestreams set to be available across both weekends of the festival – April 15-17 and April 22-24 – via desktop, mobile or the YouTube Music app.
There will be three different, simultaneous livestream feeds of various stages and acts.
This year, YouTube will be offering fans a more immersive experience when it comes to livestreaming Coachella, set to take place at the Empire Polo Club in California.
Aside from the live performances, YouTube will also provide behind the scenes content through its new YouTube Shorts feature, artist interviews, YouTube Premium pre-parties and more.
Virtual festival-goers will also be able to purchase exclusive Coachella and artist merchandise via YouTube Shopping and talk to other virtual attendees via the video sharing platform’s Live Chat function.
The Coachella line-up includes international acts including Billie Eilish, Dave, Idles, Megan Thee Stallion and Swedish House Mafia.
Each livestream will be co-hosted by Joe Kay, Quenlin Blackwall, Therapy Gecko and Veronica De La Cruz during the first weekend, while Kay and De La Cruz will present the second curated livestream covering encore performances, artist commentary and mini documentaries.
