England has sold out its three UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 group matches, with the final at Wembley also selling out its 87,200 ticket allocation.
The summer’s tournament will take place from July 6 – July 31 in England, with 16 countries participating.
England’s Women are set to play group matches at Manchester United’s Old Trafford, Brighton and Hove Albion’s Amex Stadium and Southampton’s St Mary’s Stadium.
Old Trafford, where England is set to take on Austria in the opening match, has a capacity of 73,200, while the Amex will host more than 30,000 fans when England takes on Norway. England will then face Northern Ireland at St Mary’s, which has a capacity of 32,384.
With the sale of 87,200 tickets for the Euro 2022 final at Wembley in London on July 31, the match could break the current record for an attendance at a women’s football game in England. The current record is held by the London 2012 Olympics final between the US and Japan, which was attended by 80,203 spectators.
A recent UEFA Women’s Champions League game between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid at Camp Nou broke the record for the biggest ever attendance for a women’s football match, with 91,553 football fans watching.
Free tickets had been offered to club members, who snapped them up. Tickets were priced up to €15 for non-members.
The previous record for women’s football was held by the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup final between the US and China at the Rose Bowl in California, where 90,185 fans watched the US become world champions on penalties.
