Unvaccinated fans will be able to return to watch sport and entertainment at Adelaide Oval, as rules surrounding proof of vaccination against Covid-19 have been scrapped.
Covid restrictions have eased further in South Australia, with patrons no longer having to use QR-code check-in requirements for hospitality and activities.
The men’s Australian Football League kicked off five weeks ago, with the announcement of 100% capacity for stadiums revealed just before the first set of matches.
In a tweet, Adelaide Oval management said that there will no longer be a requirement to show proof of vaccination to gain entry.
The statement said: “Consistent with the announced changes, patrons will no longer be required to wear masks when entering or moving around the stadium, but we encourage patrons to keep doing so if they choose.
“Patrons will not be required to QR code into any space in Adelaide Oval.
“Further to these changes, patrons will also no longer be required to show proof of vaccination. This change has been made on the basis of South Australia’s high vaccination rate, continued easing of restrictions and the return to 100% stadium capacity.”
Management said that Adelaide Oval staff would still be required to be double vaccinated against Covid-19 as “Adelaide Oval remains committed to maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment”.
Roughly 93.2% of South Australia residents have been double-jabbed, while 95.3% have received their first dose of the vaccine.
The continued easing of restrictions in Australia has allowed events to go ahead at full capacity. Recently, the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix welcomed some 419,000 spectators across the entirety of the weekend, a record attendance for the event and global F1 races.
