Canto-pop group Mirror are set to perform 12 concerts at the Hong Kong Coliseum (pictured) in July and August, with tickets being sold under a real-name system for the first time.
The group announced on Instagram that they had “heard” people’s “voices” and that tickets for upcoming concerts will be sold through ticketing platform Urbtix and “under the real-name system”.
A spokesperson for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department told Hong Kong’s English daily newspaper The Standard that to combat ticket scalping, the department took action to discuss ticket sales and admission with the Mirror concert organisers.
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department welcomed the organiser’s move to adopt the real-name registration for ticket sales.
Acting Secretary for Home Affairs Jack Chan Jich-chi also told the publication that he believed the real-name registration could help to reduce ticket scalping to protect fans, while also giving them a fair shot at purchasing tickets to watch the 12-piece all-male group.
Tickets for the concert at the 12,500-capacity Hong Kong Coliseum will cost between HK$480 ($61/£49/€57) and HK$1,280.
