Indian cricket fans could be set to return to watch their beloved national team live, as the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) has been granted permission to have 100% seating capacity at Wankhede Stadium (picture) in Mumbai.
New Zealand are due to tour India in the coming weeks, beginning with a three-match T20 International series followed by two Tests in the World Test Championship in Kanpur and Mumbai.
The MCA has said that following the green light from the Maharashtra Government, there will be 100% seating capacity for the second test, according to reports. The MCA had written to the Government to ask for permission to introduce 100% crowds again, following the COVID-19 pandemic.
The MCA’s Bandra-Kurla Complex will also play host to a camp in preparation for India’s Test team, ahead of the two-match series against New Zealand.
The two-match Test series will be played out as part of the World Test Championship 2021-23 cycle, starting with the match at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on November 25, and the second Test taking place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on December 3.
