English League One club Bolton Wanderers has sold a total of 13,326 season tickets for the 2022-23 season, an increase of over 25% compared to figures from last season.
The club’s board, led by chairman Sharon Brittan, announced the total prior to the end of the sales phase on Saturday.
“When we launched the campaign back in February, our goal was to make our season tickets more accessible to more supporters at the best prices possible,” said a statement from Brittan.
“We’re pleased to confirm 2,707 more people have become 2022-23 season ticket holders compared to the 2021-22 season. This is an increase of over 25%.
“This outstanding show of support is appreciated by everyone at the club, especially Ian (Evatt, Bolton manager) and his players. For them, knowing they’ll be walking out onto the pitch at the University of Bolton Stadium (pictured) with thousands and thousands of you there to cheer them on each week means so much.”
According to the Bolton News, the increase of more than 25% represents the most season tickets sold since Bolton was in the Premier League. The club was relegated in 2012 and has not returned following years of financial problems.
Over 17,000 supporters were in attendance for the club’s first home game of the season against Wycombe Wanderers, which resulted in a 3-0 win for the home side.
The board’s statement added: “We all felt the power of that support on Saturday. The atmosphere and the noise was amazing. It’s a tangible feeling that we are all on this journey together.
“Thank you again for choosing to be part of it. We look forward to seeing you throughout the season ahead.”
