More artists pull performances in Russia and Ukraine

American rock band My Chemical Romance has become the latest act to cancel upcoming shows in Russia and Ukraine.

In a statement posted on social media platform Instagram, the band said: “With deep regret, My Chemical Romance is cancelling our Ukraine and Russia shows in June 2022. We hope to be able to play for the fans there soon.”

My Chemical Romances has joined a growing list of acts that have cancelled shows in Russia and Ukraine, after Russian president Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of the neighbouring country in late February.

Further cancellations have also been announced by rock bands Biffy Clyro and Placebo, who pulled out of Moscow’s Park Live 2022.

Former One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson, Glasgow band Franz Ferdinand and US band Green Day also pulled their tour dates in Russia and in Ukraine.

Glyndebourne, an opera house in East Sussex, England, has announced its plans to hold a charity concert to raise money for the people of Ukraine.

The event will be held on April 3 and will feature the London Philharmonic Orchestra, which will be conducted by Glyndebourne Festival music director Robin Ticciati and a number of Glyndebourne artists.

Ticket sales and other proceeds from the event will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

London venue Roundhouse has also revealed its fundraising efforts, with a group of artists set to perform for Night for Ukraine. It will take place tomorrow (Wednesday) with the funds raised being donated to DEC, Disasters Emergency Committee.

Ukrainian-born pop duo Bloom Twins will help to curate the event and will also be performing on the night. The event will feature live music from international artists, spoken word poetry, film and DJ sets.
