Live Nation introduces paid internships

Live Nation’s Concerts team has introduced a paid internship scheme with the aim of boosting equitable opportunities and building a more diverse team.

There is a demand to work in live music, as shown by the 15,000 applications for 50 openings received for the college internship program.

The entertainment giant revealed that a mixture of college students and recent graduates had been selected to participate in the program, with all 50 positions now filled.

Interns will work in various departments across Live Nation’s US concerts division, including talent, marketing, business development, accounting, booking, creative production, as well as strategy and analytics.

The program runs between 12 and 16 weeks depending on education schedules and responsibilities of specific roles. This year Live Nation welcomed a mixture of college students, graduate students and graduates of 2020 and 2021, as these students had fewer opportunities for internships due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Candidates were selected from more than 40 colleges and universities and will work in US cities such as Los Angeles, Nashville, Philadelphia, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston and more.

Live Nation’s president of touring Omar Al-joulani said: “Moving to a paid internship program is an important step that allows us to keep bringing in the best candidates – not just the ones that can afford to intern for school credit.

“The music business isn’t taught in most schools so interning at Live Nation will give students great real world experience, and we’re excited to help them explore all the career paths in live music.”
