Eintracht Frankfurt pack out home stadium for Europa League final in Seville

More than 50,000 Eintracht Frankfurt fans assembled at the club’s stadium to watch a live screening of last night’s UEFA Europa League final win over Rangers.

Fans not able to secure tickets for the tournament’s showpiece in Seville packed out the German club’s Deutsche Bank Park for an evening of entertainment that included music, light shows and guest interviews. Some 45,000 paid to watch the match inside the stadium with a further 5,000 attending a free public viewing outside.

The match was broadcast on a 400sqm LED screen at one end of the pitch, with fans able to purchase tickets for the pitch and stands for just €10. Business seats were available at €100.

Tickets originally went on sale on May 9, after Eintracht had beaten West Ham United in the semi-finals. Due to high demand, further tickets went on sale on May 13.

Rangers decided not to organise a screening of the final at Ibrox, claiming the employees required to run the event would be in Seville. The club did help to arrange a screening in Seville for the estimated 100,000 fans who had travelled to Spain.

Both clubs were given an allocation of just 10,000 tickets for the final at the 40,000-capacity Estadio La Cartuja. Some 13,000 tickets were offered for sale to fans worldwide via UEFA.com, with the remainder reserved for the local organising structure, UEFA and national associations, commercial partners and broadcasters.
