KB Events, a specialist event transport and logistics company, has appointed Richard Burnett (pictured left) as its managing director.
Burnett has joined the company from the Road Haulage Association, where he spent seven years. He boasts a 37-year career in logistics and has worked for the likes of TDG, Wincanton, Hays and Samworth Bothers, working with high-street brands and names such as Heinz, GSK, Tesco and Adidas.
Some of KB Events’ clients include UK flagship festival Glastonbury, V Festival, Reading & Leeds, Download and Isle of Wight festival.
Independent live music agency One Fiinix Live has hired a new music agent in Sean Goulding. One Fiinix Live was launched in 2020 by booking agent Jon Ollier and represents British artists such as Ed Sheeran and Years & Years.
Goulding will be based in London and has over two decades of experience in live music. He has joined One Fiinix Live from The Agency Group/United Talent Agency, where he has been since he joined in 2006.
Rugby League World Cup 2021 (RLWC2021) has unveiled a newly revamped revenue and communications team. The new hires will help with the marketing structure for this year’s tournament and the senior leadership team will be led by Mick Hogan. Hogan will be joined by Upneet Thandi, who has joined as the head of marketing from Scottish Rugby.
Rob Meaden has joined the tournament as head of communications and has experience with the English Football League (EFL) and the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022. Meaden will work alongside Abby Burton, who has taken up the role of communications lead after time with British Cycling.
The senior leadership team also welcomed the promotion of Lucy Jones who has become head of match operations, and Jenn Stock, a consultant that will lead on culture and wellbeing.
Naomi Pohl (pictured right) has been elected as the first female general secretary of the Musicians’ Union (MU).
Pohl has worked for the MU since 2009 in various senior roles, including a three-year tenure as deputy general secretary.
“I am delighted and humbled to have been elected to the role of MU general secretary,” said Pohl. “It means a great deal that musicians across genres and disciplines have put their faith in me and I want nothing more than to deliver for them all.
“To musicians who have been under-represented by the union in the past and saw this election as an opportunity for positive change, I am here to listen and make sure your voices are heard. I will make myself available and ensure I am present in the spaces where you work.”
