Download to return for four days in 2023

Download festival, which only just concluded on Sunday at Donington Park, has announced that it will run across four days next year.

The UK’s flagship rock festival is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2023 and has extended its running from three days to four.

The Festival Republic-promoted event will run between June 8-11, with a limited number of early bird tickets on sale now at this year’s price.

This year’s event was headlined by rock icons Kiss and Iron Maiden, as well as Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro.

Some 85,000 rock fans were present to see acts such as Steel Panther, Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes, Deftones and A Day to Remember.

It is the first time the festival has been able to run at full capacity since 2019, after it was a trial event in 2021 for the return of large-scale live music events following the pandemic. Only 10,000 people were allowed to attend as part of the UK Government’s Events Research Programme (ERP).

This year, Download organisers also revealed major site improvements to help accessibility for all fans.

The Village was moved closer to The Arena and was on hard-standing ground following bad experiences due to poor weather. The Village was also closer to the Disabled Access campsite.
