Tech Stack: Formula 1, Web3 booking and more…

Our weekly tech round-up from the world of ticketing and associated industries…

Formula 1 and blockchain

The Australian Grand Prix partnered with Power’d Digital, which in turn utilised New Zealand public blockchain and decentralised applications platform CENNZnet, to help deliver fan experiences at the event earlier this year. Australian-based Power’d Digital, a provider of sports tokens and collectibles, delivered a blockchain-based fan portal where fans could trade tokens and access a program of unique experiences.

Digital ticketing in League One

English League One club Plymouth Argyle is now offering supporters with iOS devices the opportunity to use digital tickets. This is thanks to a recent upgrade to the club’s official app, with digital tickets or print at home tickets now appearing in the tickets section. Fans can then add these tickets to their Apple Wallet to enter at the turnstiles and has been implemented for all 2022-23 season ticket holders.

Web3 booking platforms

Web3 social booking platform Feev has announced its first NFT (non-fungible token) launch, alongside the release of an iOS and Android app later this year. The platform will bring social media and booking together in once place, meaning customers will be able to book events, attractions, hotels and flights directly on Feev. Because of the Web3 capabilities, patrons will be able to pay using cryptocurrencies.

Experiencing life in the metaverse

Event technology platform Wiztales has launched a new metaverse called Altyug. Customers will be able to experience life in the virtual world, where they will be able to shop, experience 2D hyper casual gaming and interact with friends using the same platform. Users will also be able to explore venues, with retails brands able to purchase land in the metaverse and create experiences.
