The Cure have revealed that most tickets for the English band’s upcoming US tour dates will not be transferrable to help protect against scalpers.
When announcing their ‘Shows of the Lost World’ tour last week, The Cure also said that sales will not feature ‘Platinum’ rates or dynamic pricing in order to keep tickets at a reasonable price for fans.
In a statement, the band said: “We want the tour to be affordable for all fans, and we have a very wide (and we think very fair) range of pricing at every show. Our ticketing partners have agreed to help us stop scalpers from getting in the way; to help minimise resale and keep prices at face value, tickets for this tour will not be transferrable.”

However, the band noted that despite wanting to keep ticket prices low, some states make it hard for artists to do so. The statement added: “Unfortunately, despite our desire to protect our low ticket prices for fans, the states of NY, IL and co make this very difficult – they actually have laws in place that protect scalpers!”
If fans are unable to make it, they will be able to resell tickets via a face value ticket exchange. The statement urged ticket-holders to use sites such as Twickets and Cash or Trade to sell tickets and to avoid inflated purchases through other websites.
Fans are able to register to purchase tickets until today (Monday) at 10am PT (5pm GMT) through Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan programme.
Ticketmaster added: “In support of The Cure’s plans to get fans access to tickets at the prices set by the artist, all tickets sold on Ticketmaster for Shows of a Lost World will be non-transferable. Tickets can be sold for the full price fans paid using Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange.”
Tickets will then be available on Wednesday through Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan sale.
