Theatre group Nederlander, which part-owns three venues in London’s West End, has revealed possible plans to expand in the UK.
Nederlander Organisation is a New York-headquartered theatre company founded in Detroit. It operates theatres and music venues including Brooks Atkinson Theatre, Marquis Theatre and Nederlander Theatre and more in New York, as well as multiple locations across the US.
It owns or part-owns three venues in the West End including the Dominion, the Aldwych and the Adelphi (pictured), which it co-owns with LW Theatres, a theatre company owned by English composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.
According to a report from The Stage, James L Nederlander, president of the Nederlander Organisation, said: “I would love to expand, I would like to have other theatres in the West End. And theatres in the regions too – that is always a possibility – I would never say no to anything.”
Nederlander told The Stage that he always keeps his “ear to the ground” when it comes to scouting out new venues.
Current productions include Grease at the Dominion, Tina – the Tina Turner Musical at the Aldwych and Bask to the Future at the Adelphi. All three musicals began their life in the UK before heading to Broadway in the US, and Nederlander said that he would like to continue the trend for any potential new venues.
